It’s easy to say that Elba Island is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places of entire Tuscany. A lot of things to do and to discover there are on the island: various outdoor activities and wellness, culture and gastronomy… But it all begins with the right place to stay: Hotel Airone**** is where everything begins.
Hotel Airone del Parco & delle Terme is an amazing 4 star hotel, situated just in front of Portoferraio harbor, and surrounded by a park which is also a part of the health and wellness center (but about it a bit later). The place is very easy to reach, both from Portoferraio (five-minute drive) and the Airport of Elba (twenty-minute drive), and our first reflections were about how the staff was customer oriented. From the hotel manager Mr. Ivone Sartorato and the owner Mrs. Angela Bolano, to every person who did his best to make us feel like home.
The rooms are comfortable, each one has its private terrace, often with an amazing view of Portoferraio. But I can guess you will not stay for a long time in the bedroom because there are too many things and activities to try! Let’s start with the restaurant, recently renewed, with the first class service. The rich continental breakfast usually is served both in the garden and in the restaurant. There are three options for the lunch: “Saladerie”, “Snack and go” and “Gran Buffet”. And finally, the dinner is the real pride of the hotel with different menus and delicious food. Moreover, the Peter Pan restaurant offers healthy and tasty meals for children!
The olympic swimming pool with sea water and open-air Jacuzzi just in front of the sea, next to the hotel (the guests can enjoy the view of Portoferraio). But if you’d rather lay on the sandy beach, Hotel Airone has its private equipped beach too. Inside the hotel’s park, there is also a big barbecue place, an American bar, tennis and sports courts, and more.
But what makes the Hotel Airone our best place to stay in Elba Island, are the additional services for sports and nature lovers. For example, the scuba diving center situated near the beach, or the private dock with the free taxi boat for the hotel customers (maybe Hotel Airone is the only one on the island with the facilities like this!). But there is more! In fact Hotel Airone is the certified “bike hotel”, a sort of paradise for all cyclists with: all types of bikes ready for rent (classic, mtb, and e-bike), small bike repair shop, special meals for cyclists, and much more, including a garage for your own bike!
Too much lazy to go biking but still looking for adrenaline on two wheels? Hotel Airone has good news for you too: the Enduro Academy of Fabio Fasola based in Hotel Airone. Fabio, a former enduro racer who took part in 3 Paris-Dakar and many International Six Days Enduro, in 1990 founded the Enduro Academy to share his know-how and to deliver it to everybody who wants to feel the pleasure to ride a bike off road. Last but not least, the name Hotel Airone del Parco & delle Terme, is not a random name because just few hundred meters away from the hotel there is the Terme San Giovanni facility, famous for the silt (sea mud) with highly therapeutic and unique properties. The Terme San Giovanni is not one of those huge and anonymous spa centers, but cozy and familiar, with friendly and helpful staff.
