Fast and Furious: Circuits and Racings in Tuscany

Motor Racing - Formula One World ChampionshipSunday 17 March the 2013 season of F1 World Championship will start again in Australia, very far from Tuscany but this will give us the chance to speak about Tuscany and motorsport. The connection is more tight that you can think. First of all with Mugello circuit, the biggest track of the region, a place where a fan of motorsport can find something exciting almost every day.

So while weekends are often full of important races (first of all the Italian round of Motogp), in other days you will be surprised to find some Ferrari F1 riding on the track. In fact the circuit is property of Ferrari, and it’s where the test team with Marc Gene and Pedro De La Rosa makes most trials. Sometimes also Alonso and Massa ride on it. Last but not least, every November, Ferrari organizes at Mugello circuit the finals of Ferrari challenge, that is not just a race, it’s a celebration of Ferrari’s world, and hundreds of every types of Ferrari will be on the track. Really a wonderful show full of awesome surprises for everybody who loves cars and motorsport. Just to make an example last year here I saw also Gerard Berger driving his Ferrari F1-89.

Panoramica MugelloThe track, if there are not races or private tests, is open to everybody, so you will be able to feel the emotion of riding on the two “Arrabbiata”, the double turn on the right very famous in Motogp, using your car – motorbike or renting a supercar (Ferrari, Lamborghini and so on).

Tuscany has also a great tradition and connection with rallies, in fact for many years the Italian round of world rally championship, has taken place here. The gravel around Volterra and Chiusdino hosted legendary challenges between heroes of rallying like Carlos Sainz or Colin McRae. So even today almost 2 weekends per month, you will be able to see a rally race in Tuscany.

Yes, it’s just a normal kart track, open to everybody, but it’s also where Robert Kubica practices almost every week. So if you are lucky you will have the chance to meet the polish champion and maybe have some lap with him (but your selfesteem as driver will decrease a lot!!).
