A completely renewed country residence is based inside an ancient monastery dating from the 12th century. The Convent of Monte Pozzali is famous for a legend of Pia de’ Tolomei. The legend tells that Pia was married to the owner of Monte Pozzali Castle and surrounding lands. Pia, after no longer being desired by her husband, was locked up in the castle placed on a hill not far from Monte Pozzali and then moved into the convent, using a long tunnel that connected both buildings. Her lifeless body was found in the year 1289 at the foot of the tower. Officially it was said that she had committed suicide due to her overwhelming unhappiness. However, it had been thought that her husband possibly had something to do with her unfortunate fate.
But come back to the current country residence of Convent of Monte Pozzali. In the antique main building and the smaller building next to it you can find fully equipped apartments for two, four, or six people. Each apartment is furnished with antique tuscan stile furniture and has its own name. Most of the apartments have a privat entrance as well.
The Convent of Monte Pozzali is a perfect destination for exclusive events such as weddings, that will be hard to forget. In the main building there is a restaurant, and its original 12th century architecture left us speachless. The restaurant offers typical Tuscan dishes using high quality local ingredients. Walking around the wide territory of Convent of Monte Pozzali we found bright swimming pool, soccer and ping pong areas, mountain bikes for rent, and the riding school. Even some SPA procedures can be arranged upon request. The Tuscan Riding Centre Cavallo Maremma provides riding lessons of all levels on Convent of Monte Pozzali territory. And that‘s not the end.
