Palazzo Strozzi hosts the beautiful exhibition “Spring of Renaissance” (it. La Primavera del Rinascimento) from the 23rd of March till the 18th of August 2013. The exhibit goes back to the history of sculpture and arts that sprouted in Florence between 1400 and 1460.
This exhibition sets out to illustrare the origins of what is know even today as the “miracle” of the Renaissance, focusing in particular on the crucial role played by sculpture. Sculpture was the first of the major arts to formulate and to impart concrect shape to the new style, which was more than a formal or an aesthetic ideal: it was a new way of understanding mans’ relationship with the universe and with history. Masterpieces by Brunelleschi, Ghiberti, Donatello, Luca della Robbia and Andrea del Verrocchio will dialogue for the very first time with paintings, drawings and miniatures by Pisanello, Masaccio, Beato Angelico, Filippo Lippi, Andrea del Castagno and Piero della Francesca.
