At the top of the Apennines, near Pistoia there is a ski resort, called Abetone. It is one of the largest ski resorts in Tuscany and the Apennines and its history begins in the nineteenth century as a destination for elite tourism. Abetone is about an hour and a half drive from Florence.

Abetone and its skiing resort are made up of two main ski runs, seventy kilometers of downhill runs, about 50 cross country ski runs and 21 ski lifts. Artificially snow-covered slopes and lifts that start from 1200 meters to 1950 meters above the sea level connect them. The Abetone ski complex also organizes night descents under the moonlight. In Abetone everyone can ski, in fact here the skiing facilities are equipped for the differently abled, there are car parks, chair lifts without barriers and specific ski courses.

While skiing you can admire wild beauty of the valley of Sestaione, the valley of Lima, the downstream of Scoltenna and the Val di Luce. Ski in Tuscany gives you a possibility to combine active holiday with the visit of world famous art cities and degustations of the best Italian food and wine.
